I think I’ve mentioned my favorite used bookstore in Charlotte, Julia’s Café & Books. It’s attached to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore and the proceeds directly benefit that organization.
It’s a super great place to go for all sorts of cookbooks. I’ve found a wide variety of church, Junior League and the mainstream celebrity cookbooks on their shelves. It’s always a great resource.
Recently, I had a Facebook Marketplace meet-up near there and I decided to swing by.
Now, I’ve been known to select so many cookbooks that I have to lug them to checkout in several trips. I wonder if there’s a shopping cart option? And today’s visit was no different. I ended up with a huge, huge stack…but was able to get them to the cash register in one trip. My wrists were not happy with me afterwards….
Take a look at the fantastic selection I was able to get!
Bon Appetit, Y’All (Virginia Willis), The Red Rooster Cookbook (Marcus Samuelson), Secrets of the Southern Table (Virginia Willis), and Crescent City Collection: A Taste of New Orleans (The Junior League of New Orleans). Two cookbooks from Virginia Willis! What?!
Savannah Seasons (Elizabeth Terry with Alexis Terry), Southern Cooking for Company (Nicki Pendleton Wood), The Southern Cookie Book (Southern Living) and The Southern Foodie’s Guide to the Pig (Chris Chamberlin).
Sweet Pickin’s (The Junior League of Fayetteville, NC, Inc.), Learn to Cook 25 Southern Classics 3 Ways (Jennifer Brule), Gullah Home Cooking the Daufuskie Way (Sallie Ann Robinson), Sunday Brunch (Betty Rosebottom) and Cornbread Nation 7: The Best of Southern Food Writing (Edited by Francis Lam). I have had this Jennifer Brule cookbook on my list so I’m thrilled to find it.
More High Hampton Hospitality (Compiled by Becky McKee), From Orangeburg’s Palate (Orangeburg Junior Service League), A Southern Collection (The Junior League of Columbus, Georgia), The Treasure Cookbook: Special Bicentennial Edition (The Ladies of Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church), The Little Cottage That Could Cookbook (Cottage Café in Bluffton, SC), and What’s Cooking in Tryon (The Women’s Society of The Congregational Church of Christ).
Huge! I can’t believe how fortunate I was to find such a tremendous selection. And right as I’m checking out, the card machine fails so I have to write a check. What a way to bring me down from my high…LOL
