I’ve attended church with a lady named Jan and her family for many years now. Covid came along and we all went remote for two years. We’ve been slowly moving back to attending worship service in person, but not as often as we should. It’s so easy to sit on the couch in your pajamas and watch online.
During one of the times we made it to church in person, Jan said that she had some cookbooks for me. Her mother had to transition to a memory-care facility, and they cleaned out and sold her home.
Jan had kept the cookbooks and thought I would enjoy having them.
As I mentioned, we weren’t great about making it to church in person every Sunday. But then there was a service where we were both there. Jan told me to wait while she ran out to her car. She brought back a paper bag with a nice collection of cookbooks.
I’m so honored when someone thinks of me and gifts me their loved ones’ cookbook collection.
Did I mention that her mom was also a member of a Moravian church? There were a couple of Moravian church cookbooks that I’m so happy to add to my collection.
And every cookbook has her mom’s name on the inside cover page. Thank you, Peggy, I’ll take good care of them!
