Can I tell you how much eBay has been my friend lately?!!
I’ve been looking forever for an affordable copy of Thug Kitchen for a while now. I loved the idea of a cussing cookbook. Thrills me! But, it has stood the test of time. My hairdresser, Mandi, loves this cookbook. She’s a health coach and posts pictures of her meals on Facebook. I’ve seen Thug Kitchen mentioned many, many times as sources for her recipes. And if she keeps this cookbook by her side, then I know these recipes are practicing what they preach.
Remember how I posted about my cookbook source on Etsy in the previous post? Well, there was one cookbook that was listed at close to the $20 mark. That’s unusual so I took a closer look. It was listed as a rare find and autographed…but still.
So, I did a quick search on eBay and found two listings for the same cookbook. I opted for the more affordable one, and whattaya know: autographed!
Fancy Fixin’s: Southern Style (Ruth and Frank DeFriese). I also love that Ruth stitched all the illustrations…not just the cover, but the intro to each section. You can see the “RD” that she’s stitched into the cute scenes.
Peace, Love and Barbeque is already in my collection, but just perusing the copies that eBay had for sale…I found an autographed copy. It’s also inscribed, but not to someone with my name. But, Mike Mills passed away a few years back and I wanted to grab up this copy for my collection.
And, of course, I did a look through the Betty Feezor’s that were listed. I love it when people outside of the Charlotte and Richmond area list copies. Most of the time, they don’t ask for an outrageous price tag. This one was $15 and autographed!
Betty Feezor’s Best, Fourth Printing, 1962. I want to say it came from Oklahoma? Amazing how it ended up out there! Betty is everywhere.
