I love cake…well, let me be more specific; I love the icing on cake. You know the kind, the one where Crisco is the main ingredient. Love it...and always have. When I was little, I would just eat the icing flowers on birthday cakes. I loved them so much, my beloved Aunt Loretta would make them ahead, freeze them and then dole them out one at a time as a reward or a quick dessert.
In fact, when I was pregnant, I always craved birthday cake (and movie theater popcorn). And no, it’s not a weird craving at all.
As I was going through the ice cream section of the grocery store, I spotted a few packages of Blue Bunny Premium that had a picture of Duff on them. I watched a few of his Ace of Cakes episodes so seeing him in the ice cream section intrigued me. Here’s what I found:
“I Do, I Do Wedding Cake” Ice Cream? What wondrous item is this?
It’s chunks of white cake with a raspberry sauce swirled into buttercream frosting flavored ice cream. Oh wow….I must take this carton home and give it a whirl.
It’s amazing! The ice cream really tastes like icing! Icing is lighter and fluffier, of course—but what a tasty combination with the cake pieces and raspberry swirl. It’s almost as if someone put a slice of wedding cake in the freezer and then served it up in a bowl. It’s got everything: ice cream, cake and a little bit of fruit. And here’s something cool…everyone in the family loved it! I think this carton will be empty by the time the weekend rolls around.
“I Do, I Do Wedding Cake” may prove to be the must-have ice cream this summer! I know I’ve already promised to love, honor and cherish it ‘til an empty shelf at Food Lion do us part…
