I actually used my gift code and got the free dessert over at 131 Main. Yes, the temptation was too great and I had to go check it out. So, rest assured, the certificate you download from the Link website really does work. The only difficult part of the whole situation was deciding between Key Lime Pie and Banana Crème Pie.
Now, keep in mind, I was too chicken to go alone so I ended up drafting WBT’s Program Director Carl East to go with me. We found a great parking spot right next to the restaurant in the parking deck and were inside lickety-split. I knew my usual order of Wedge Salad with Thai Steak would give me some room for dessert, so we put in our lunch order pretty quickly.
Here’s my lunch:
While we were waiting, Carl tells me that he’s had the Banana Crème Pie almost every time he’s been there. I start to hear words like “decadent” and “wear a poncho.”
We tell our server, Maggie, that we’ll be ordering the Banana Crème Pie and that I’ve never tried it before. She actually put her hand over her mouth and gasped. Seriously, am I that sheltered from the world of pie?
Here’s the slice that arrived.
The graham cracker crust is thick and filled with pecans. My first bite is a huge chunk from the edge of the crust…yummy, nutty and buttery. The pie is pretty good, too. There are huge chunks of chocolate and slices of banana as well.
I guess a clean plate is a good indication of how well we liked it.
There’s still time to download your own gift code and take advantage of this free dessert option. It’s a nice way to spend lunch and the dessert is a great way to start the afternoon.
